How I Met Your Mother

This weekend I laugh a lot… ;) Gosh… and will you believe it’s simply because of “How I Met Your Mother”…

You know the proverbial “Laughter is the best medicine”… it sounds wrong, doesn’t it?

- As if there was something terminal to start with, and that we needed emeregency surgery… like an amputation of some sort (*wink*)
- and As if we couldn’t find things in our life worth being happy about…
- and As if some chocolate ice cream in my digestive system can’t bring on the endorphins… (maybe I should have exercised instead huh… well… I don’t “feel” like it then okkkkay?? Stop judging me man! :) hehe :P)

BUT for Many People In The World (MPITW), this week may not have been all too great a week, because:-

- for the same MPITW, they don’t look at their reasonably average situation in scale and allow the HUGE picture of the world to sink in;
- for the same MPITW, myopia messes up their perspectives about their lives and they just don’t find the good moments; and
- for the same MPITW, after eating that chocolate ice-cream, they realise that what they’re truly, absolutely, and REALLY REALLY needing is… “Awfully Chocolate” ice cream instead! (Darn! I tell you, we should never leave out specifics in cravings!)

So… I am adimitedly one of these MPITW this week… But thank God for Jialin… who was there, on a saturday night, to say, “Dearie, you HAVE to watch How I Met Your Mother! No no no…No DVDs… All your DVDs make you cry… No Elizabethtown, No Stardust, No Pride and Prejudice… you need plain good old-school comedy…”

And I found the answer (which I’ve heard many times this week…) to my “emotional turmoil” (or so I thought it was a turmoil) in Episode 10, when Barney said,”You think too much, Ted…”

Sigh… Jaime baby, I think you think too much TOO…. :)

    Getting Directions

One of the stops of the Europe trip was at Helsingborg, Sweden. It’s one of my favourites… and over here, we saw an interesting signpost… :) Guess the road (of life) is full of twists and turns yah? :)

I love twists and turns… Life’s more interesting that way, right? :)

I’ve received an email from Joe yesterday and I admire the bravery of my friend who has planned to join the ranks of the kelvin koh; gabriel mendes; jonathan ho, eadwine, ck… and the many wedding photographers out there in Singapore… not because these are big names and that he’s trying to enter a market of an established network with “inner circles”; but simply because he’s going to pursue a career-hobby.

In his email, he talked about his current day job; he talked about the venture; he talked about the emotions which come along with the decision… and the key line: “But hey, God gave us free will for a reason…’”

Now… Wouldn’t life be so methodical and boring if we didn’t make choices?

Joe’s works are beautiful (and i’m not referring to the silly subject guffawing in the shots… i’m talking about moments… he used my baby - canon ixus 75 - to capture this and look at his angle and composition… I cannot do that at all…); and one needs an eye for such moments. See his website blog for more!

    The Falcon on The Baltic

The Subject of the entry is borrowed from the title of E.F. Knight’s book. Knight wrote it at the turn of the 19th Century…

Hmmm… I wonder what my own journey will be like? :)
Through what lens…through what levels…and through what life…

    We’ll see :)

    Taken

    Gripping movie. All should watch.

It’s just that after watching this, I think… yikes, should I be worried about travelling to Europe now? :(

This show has kept me engaged throughout… Liam Neeson’s character, in a less dramatic fashion and extent, reminds me of my Daddy… :) - by this, I’m referring to how Daddy sacrifices for this family; how he puts his family first in everything he does; and how (I believe) he will fiercely defend us. (Psst… Daddy has “a very particular set of skills” too… heh heh heh… well… cooking is a skill right? hehehe… Oei Jer, if you’re reading, don’t pao-toh me ah… but just in case you do, I shall have a disclaimer about his skills: No matter what, I love you Daddy!!!)

I was initially dubious about the movie because well, for one, I didn’t think we were going to watch a movie (I thought it was just Starbucks at The Cathay… tho’ everyone knew we were watching a movie - Janice says, “oh! i booked tickets already… last night!”; Shuying says, “I knew it was a movie… not so much dinner and coffee??” REALLY??? how did I miss the big picture man…?? ); for two, I didn’t know what the movie was about (and all I could rely on was Joe’s claim that it was good… “Trust me, you’ll like it!”); and for three, I had some silly long run of 58min in the evening, prior to meeting them and I was really sleepy (It was a 11.20pm show)…

    BUT… it kept me awake… all the way… :)
